My specific areas of research interest are bone regeneration, growth and remodeling, orthopedic implant fixation, and the role of bone in osteoarthritis. Current projects involve systemic genetics of bone regeneration and the effects of pre-term birth on postnatal bone growth and aging. My work has been supported by grants on which I have served as PI or multiPI from each decade since 1989. I am the chair of the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology and the Director of the Rush Microcomputed Tomography/Histology Core Lab.
