overview My research focuses on rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a joint disease that causes chronic pain and disability. We described a new mouse model of RA 30 years ago, and fully characterized it with respect to its pathogenesis, immunology, and genetics. My group was the first to report on the non-invasive imaging of the trafficking of white blood cells in the inflamed joints of live mice (with RA-like arthritis) using two-photon microscopy. My current research interest is in the immune recognition of a cartilage molecule termed proteoglycan (or aggrecan) by lymphocytes from mice with arthritis and from RA patients. Our ultimate goals are to identify therapeutic targets and to find a cure for RA. My ORCID is 0000-0003-1506-4296 My Scopus ID is 7006756303 My NIH COMMONS name is KMIKECZ Education: MD: Medical University of Debrecen, Hungary (1982) PhD: Medical University of Debrecen & Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary (1989)
