    Santosh is a thought leader in Human-Centered Systems Design in Health Care. He is an Assistant Professor in the Family and Preventive Medicine Department at Rush University Medical Center. Santosh focuses on design and innovation of models of care, equitable service design and translational research at healthcare systems.

    Santosh has a PhD in Design from IIT Institute of Design, Chicago, an MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from SUNY Buffalo and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Karnatak University, India.

    Santosh has 20+ years of experience, ~10 years in the industry and ~10 years in academia. Before moving to academia and teaching human-computer interaction design methods, Santosh worked in the technology industry as a Principal Staff UX Researcher at Motorola Research Labs and Motorola Mobility (a Google company). Santosh has led research and design projects in the technologies for Connected Homes, Smart Media, and Wellness Experiences. In recent years in healthcare systems, Santosh has led research in operating room design, design of clinical trials, the role of fathers in black maternal health crises and solutions, and community-based design studios to understand the research needs of the community as related to chronic conditions and systemic issues of SDOH.

    Santosh has created new course offerings at Rush University and tested innovative educational experiences at ID and RUSH, including courses like Modes of Human Experiences, Inclusive Design, Social Entrepreneurship, Innovation Design in Healthcare, and Human Systems Integration.

    Santosh gives keynotes, invites talks, participates in steering committees, edits proceedings, and publishes in peer-reviewed conferences. Santosh also has numerous publications in journals and conferences and has 15+ US patents to his credit.
